The Lexicon Bracknell Half Marathon race day approaches

2 May 2017

With less than a week to go, excitement is building as Bracknell prepares for The Lexicon Bracknell Half Marathon, which takes place on Sunday, May 7 2017.

Now in its 33rd year, the town’s annual running event will see around 1,000 runners from the Borough and beyond cover the picturesque 13 mile running route which will start and finish at South Hill Park.

Rob Morris, general manager at Bracknell Regeneration Partnership says: “We are really excited to be a part of the town’s half marathon. It’s a great way to integrate the regeneration with a part of the town’s heritage.

“The event is a great day out, filled with community spirit and we look forward to welcoming all the runners and spectators next week.”

The event is a great fund-raiser and many participants will be running for individual charities. The race is also supporting Sebastian’s Action Trust this year and it is hoped that people will dig deep to support the charity.

Vincent Paliczka, director of environment, culture and communities, said: “I’d like to wish everyone taking part in the half marathon the very best of luck for next week. I’m always inspired by the number of runners who take on the challenge each year. It’s a great part of our community and sporting calendar and I’m delighted that this year it is being supported by The Lexicon.”

Details of the course can be found online.  Runners travelling to The Lexicon Bracknell half marathon are advised to take note of the following travel restrictions on the day:

  • M3 closure between Junctions 2 and 3 in both directions all day
  • M4 closure between Junctions 12 and 13 in both directions all day

Runners are advised to check alternative routes before they travel and to allow a bit more time for their journey as the organisers cannot delay the start of the race.

Information for residents on road closures during the race can be found on our marathon information page
